Yuck! I won't eat garden snails
62Before we moved in, an old woman lived in this house. And the house was unoccupied after she died for more than half a year. I suspect she might have stopped looking after her garden in her last years. So the garden inhabitants are quite prosperous. I see many frogs living in the small pond and producing their offspring in the mud, and so many snails under one brick! Although its quite cold here, but we can see gnats and flies and bees buzzing around the pine tree beside the pond.
My wife asked if garden snails are edible, and searched out on the internet for confirmation and recipes. She told me excitedly that we CAN eat garden snails. But we have to clean them first. Just put the garden snails into a container in which they can be kept moist and can breathe. Feed them on bran or lettuce or cabbage leaves for 7 to 10 days. Or just let them starve for a week. This cleanses them. Because snails may eat some toxic grass or might have been near harmful pesticide. Then you can cook them whatever you like. Yuck, I won't eat garden snails.

My wife failed to hoax me to collect those garden snails, she began to talk about the frogs. I have eaten frogs several times in my life, but that's when I attended a feast such as celebrating graduate or wedding or birthday party in a restuarant. I have never cooked frogs myself in my own kitchen. Because we have a superstition that Thunder God will kill people who eats frog by lightening sword. Although I know it's now true. But frogs eat flies and other insects who live on our crops. So they're beneficial insects.
Now there are some five clusters of frog eggs in the tiny pond, if 100 eggs in one cluster, there will be five hundred frogs! We start to imagine that horrible situation such as the frog disaster happened in Egypt recorded in Bible. Where will they hop away when they get rid of their tails?
Well, at last we decide to leave them alone. I hope we can live happily together. The singing birdies maybe feed on them?
