Toshiba Netbook's Touchpad Settings

I bought a Toshiba netbook NB200 recently. It has a nice, big Alps touchpad which is claimed one of the biggest netbook touchpads. But I quickly found that the touchpad behaves very funny, especially when I use a web browser. Quite often it brings me back to the previous web page I visited. It was so annoying that I thought I must do something to fix this.
Having skipped through many 'help & support' pages and control panel items, I found the settings finally. It is in
Control Panel > Mouse > Advanced tab > Advanced feature settings ...
You will see the following touchpad advanced feature settings window.
Use Browser support function
The browser support function enables the user to execute the "Back" and "Forward" functions in explorer through operations on the touchpad. If you slide a finger left on the top edge of the touchpad and release, it is equivalent to click the "Back" button on your web browser; and "Forward" is done similarly by sliding a finger to the right and releasing.
Use Scroll function
You can use the touchpad to emulate the scroll and zoom functions of a mouse wheel. Bother vertical scrolling and horizontal scrolling are enabled. To scroll vertically, trace up and down along the right edge of the touchpad; to scroll horizontally, trace left and right along the bottom edge of the touchpad. To use the zoom function, trace along the right edge of the touchpad while holding down the Ctrl key.
Use Inertial Movement
When 'Use inertial movement' is enabled, moving a finger from the center of the touchpad to the inertial movement area (which is along the top, bottom, left, and right edges of the touchpad) causes the mouse pointer to move continuously in that direction.
The default settings of these functions are on. Initially, all the border areas of the touchpad are defined for these smart functions. However, for users who are not aware of these functions they are just annoyance.
Once I discovered the reason to cause my web browser constantly go back to the previous page, I just disabled all the functions to use a simple, big touchpad.

dude. thanks for your work. i just (reluctantly) bought a netbook to compliment my new compy. i chose this cool ass looking Toshiba. worked great except for that weird ass touch pad thingy. i was going to return it but did a google search. your thing came up. my configuration was not like yours. no "advanced" on the mouse action. had to call "Bob" in India. he was equally as clueless but his suggestions lead me to the new secret back door which gave me some options. i would have been clueless as to what these options meant if not for your graphic. THANKS.
